U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam talks about the real estate market with Pat Callan, an IAR federal political coordinator. The Let's Talk Real Estate event was held in St. Charles on April 22, 2014.

As part of the Let’s Talk Real Estate series, Illinois REALTORS® sat down with U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in St. Charles.

Roskam, who represents Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District, serves as Republican chief deputy whip.

Pat Callan, broker owner of Realty Executives Premiere and volunteer Federal Political Coordinator for NAR, led a question and answer session and covered topics ranging from taxation and reform to areas of real estate finance.

Sitting on the House Ways and Means makes Congressman Roskam an authority on tax policy and he explained the current state of tax reform and specifically the issues related to tax “extenders” such as mortgage debt cancellation.

IAR has several other Let’s Talk Real Estate events coming up. U.S. Rep. John Shimkus will meet with REALTORS® on Thursday and U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez will take part in a meeting on Friday. (Learn more here).
